One of the coolest things I have seen is during one valentines a mall in South Africa hired actors and had them sprinkled through out the mall. They were dressed in their characters attire and were frozen still. The characters were all taken from love stories such as Romeo and Juliet, Pocahontas, etc. It created such a great vibe in the mall. I'd like to use this on our Uni campus next year as part of our Orientation Week outreach. Have the same idea but add Jesus in there. I recon it will create some cool conversations.

When Laziness Pays

Today I was reminded that yes... laziness does have a big pay-off.
Let me offer some context. I was painting our fence today, rolling it with an ash-black stain. Now I had previously bought myself an electric spray gun in anticipation for this job. However, the advice I received in the shop was to roller the first coat. Hey what do I know, so i followed the advice... and nearly 4 hours later I had completed the first 20m section. 4 hours later!

Totally demoralized at the length of this project I began to wonder about how the electric spray gun would fair. My laziness was kicking in and I was irritated with the slog of having to roller the fence. I still had 50m to go!
The problem was that this last 50m of fencing had fairly big gaps between the palings... so I had previously ruled out the use of the electric spray gun as I did not want to affect my neighbors side of the fence.
After some tossing and turning my deliberating gave out to my lazy streak. In just 1 hour I had completed the next 20m section! And I had used far less paint!

Laziness pays! It prevents us from always sticking to convention. It causes us to get creative and find other solutions.
In life we need to learn to work smarter... not harder.
In ministry, we need to learn to work smarter... not harder.

The Sky Is The Limit!

I have been intrigued over the last week about the contents of my previous blog... where Kyle MacDonald through 14 trades traded a single red paper clip for a 1 year lease on a house in Canada!
It got me thinking... what exactly is possible? With a little creativity what could we achieve?

Then my mate Stuart Buchanan gave me an invite to his 21st. Check out the pics below of his invite.

21st are traditionally a time that focuses and celebrates the individuals journey thus far.
Stu has turned this on its head... he has invited his mates to get into teams of 4... to go and do good deeds... to take photos etc of the good deeds... and then to share what was done at his 21st. What an awesome idea!!! Imagine the good that will come of that!

What possibilities lie before us if we are willing to be creative and think outside of the box?
I hope you and I will venture there!
